Cherokee Nation Film Studio partners with Reveal XR to launch their first virtual production spot

In early 2020, with the production industry brought to a halt by the pandemic, the Cherokee Nation Film Office faced a unique challenge: how could virtual production be leveraged to keep creative projects moving forward safely? With funds available to the Nation but a strict year-end deadline, they turned to Reveal XR and Creative Filter for a solution.

After consulting with the Cherokee Nation Film Office, the team focused on delivering a state-of-the-art virtual production studio. A vacant indoor soccer field on tribal lands was selected as the location, and we worked closely with architects, construction teams, and integration experts to build a multi-use studio space tailored to both immediate needs and future growth. Despite supply chain challenges, the team secured the cutting-edge technology required, leveraging industry connections to bypass delays and deliver on time.

The project required gutting 90% of the existing facility and transforming it into a versatile XR soundstage with custom-built areas for various production needs. Every element, from the walls to the lighting setup, was designed to provide both functionality and creative flexibility.

The pandemic caused significant supply chain disruptions, making the procurement of high-demand equipment difficult. However, our team’s experience and connections enabled us to navigate these issues, ensuring the timely delivery of essential gear.

The result was a world-class XR studio, right in the heartland of the country. The facility has hosted national feature films, television commercials, and high-profile productions, solidifying its place as a premiere virtual production hub. Due to its success, the studio has already expanded—doubling its wall size and adding a retractable ceiling to unlock even more creative possibilities.

The Cherokee Nation Film Office was thrilled with the transformation, from an unlikely venue (an indoor soccer field) to a nationally recognized virtual production facility. This state-of-the-art studio now serves as a beacon for production companies nationwide, with room for even more growth on the horizon.
